When was the last time you paused to reflect on what energises you — the things you do that leave you feeling lit up, rather than drained?

So often in workplaces (and in life), the focus is on “fixing” what’s not working. We zero in on gaps, weaknesses, and development needs. There’s value in growth, of course — but what if we started from a place of strength instead?

That’s where strengths-based coaching comes in.

What is strengths-based coaching?

At its heart, strengths-based coaching is about helping people tap into what they do best — their natural talents, energisers, and the behaviours that bring them alive.

It’s not about ignoring challenges or blind spots, but rather flipping the script. Instead of trying to become someone you’re not, it’s about understanding who you are, and using that insight to work smarter, lead with authenticity, and build resilience from within.

For neurodivergent individuals in particular, this approach can feel incredibly empowering. Many of us have spent years feeling like we need to mask, adapt, or constantly compensate. Strengths-based coaching offers a different perspective — one that acknowledges difference as a strength, not a deficit.

But here’s the key thing: this approach isn’t just for neurodivergent folk. It’s universally valuable.

When we focus on strengths — across whole teams or organisations — we create a more inclusive, energised, and psychologically safe culture. One where everyone has the opportunity to understand themselves better, and support each other to thrive.

Enter Strengthscope®

I’m now an accredited practitioner of the Strengthscope® psychometric tool, and I’m genuinely excited to start weaving it into my coaching and development work.

Strengthscope is a validated tool that identifies up to seven “significant strengths” – the things that energise you and come naturally when you’re at your best. It’s grounded in positive psychology and is one of the few strengths tools with a strong evidence base behind it.

What I love most is that it’s not just about personality traits — it’s about energy. It helps us understand what gives us energy (our strengths), what can drain us, and how to manage both in a sustainable way.

Whether you’re someone who thrives on collaboration, creativity, results, empathy or developing others — Strengthscope helps you name it, own it, and lean into it

Why I’ve brought Strengthscope® into my work

In my coaching and training, I often work with people who feel stretched thin, stuck in the wrong role, or unsure of how to bring their whole selves to work. Many are neurodivergent, navigating hidden health conditions, or simply trying to stay afloat in busy, often demanding environments.

Starting with strengths shifts the focus.

It helps people see what’s right with them. It gives a shared language for energy and contribution — which is especially powerful in team settings. And it opens up conversations about difference, motivation, and communication that might not otherwise happen.

This is why I see Strengthscope® as a brilliant tool not just for personal growth, but for creating inclusive, human-centred workplaces

A few ways we can use it together…

Whether you’re looking for individual coaching or a team development approach, there are lots of ways Strengthscope® can be integrated:

  • Individual coaching journeys: Explore your unique strengths profile, reflect on what energises and drains you, and build strategies to boost wellbeing and performance.
  • Team workshops: Help your team discover and celebrate each other’s strengths, improve collaboration, and better understand how to support one another.
  • Leadership development: Empower leaders to lead from their own strengths and create space for difference in their teams — especially important in neurodiverse environments.

Inclusive. Empowering.

Strengths-focused.

Whether you’re neurodivergent or neurotypical, strengths-based coaching offers a meaningful way to better understand yourself, communicate more clearly, and make choices that align with your values and energy.

It meets people where they are — recognising difference, without pathologising it — and helps build confidence and connection in a way that’s genuinely inclusive.

If you’re curious about how Strengthscope® could support you or your team, I’d love to chat. You can find more about my coaching and training services, or simply drop me a message.

Let’s stop trying to squeeze people into boxes — and start helping them shine in their own way.
