My Foundations
Growing up in the 80s, before the days of social media, TV on demand and mobile phones I was a bright and happy child – climbing trees when the sun shone and my head in a book on rainy days. BRIGHT in every sense, WHITE in name, living a full LIFE – that’s the story behind the name.
Back then, there was more space to pause, but mental health challenges still existed. My early experiences— navigating family mental health struggles, dealing with bullying, experiencing physical ill health – had an impact on my own view of the world.
The Illusion of Wellbeing
Have you ever found yourself in a position where, on the surface, life seems to be going well—progressing career, healthy relationships, achieving those socially-expected life goals —yet something deep down feels off? You may be excelling at work, helping colleagues grow, supporting your team through challenges, and caring for others at home, but your own health and happiness have quietly slipped down your priority list.
I’ve been there. After years in a successful HR and training career, I realised that while everything looked good from the outside, deep down I knew I wasn’t the bright, happy person I could be. My own mental and physical wellbeing had steadily taken a back seat to my work and caring responsibilities.

Advocating for Self Care
In 2011, I faced a turning point when I lost my career, home, and relationship all in the span of a few months. Hindsight is a wonderful thing they say, as I should have seen the signs. It was in that darkness that I realised just how much I had let my inner brightness fade away.
Perhaps you can relate to the feeling of being drained, unable to pour from an empty cup. Acknowledging this was a wake-up call for me—a reminder that self-care is not selfish, but rather a necessity for a fulfilling life.
This difficult journey pushed me to explore mental health, resilience, growth mindset, and the importance of cultivating a balanced life. Emerging from this experience, I found a renewed passion for helping others rediscover their own brightness.
Embracing Neurodiversity
Have you ever felt like the world expects you to fit into a box that just doesn’t suit you? If you’ve experienced this, you’re not alone. My more recent chapter included receiving my ADHD diagnosis at 44, and it helped me understand why that ‘bright’ child I once was hadn’t always thrived.
Many adults struggle with their unique neurodivergent traits in work environments that often don’t support different ways of thinking. It can be tough when your workplace doesn’t embrace neurodiversity, leaving you feeling overlooked or misunderstood. But there’s hope! By recognising and celebrating our unique traits, we can create a space where everyone, including you, can truly shine.
It’s why I’m also supporting neurodivergent adults to get the understanding and resources they need, through coaching and training. Together, we can advocate for more inclusive workplaces that not only recognise individual strengths but also foster an environment where everyone has the chance to thrive.

Bringing Personal Experience to Professional Support
Drawing on my personal journey with neurodiversity and mental health, along with my HR expertise, I support organisations in building inclusive, high-performing teams of mentally resilient, neurodiverse individuals – driving cultural change through coaching, training and advocacy informed by lived experience. I’ve faced those same modern pressures, but learned invaluable lessons that I now use to help both individuals and organizations create healthier, more resilient lives and workplaces. Together, we’ll transform environments where mental wellbeing is prioritized, and you can truly thrive.
