Mental Health First Aid

Boost wellbeing through our expert-led Mental Health First Aid training, equipping your team to offer vital support

Why invest in Mental Health First Aid training?

The last few years have been hard on everyone. Amidst a global pandemic, economic uncertainty, and changes to the ways we work, no matter what sector you work in, the need to support everyone’s mental health and wellbeing is greater than ever.

  • Poor mental health among UK employees costs employers approximately £51 billion annually (Deloitte UK Mental Health Report 2024)
  • Early intervention and prevention strategies yield the highest benefits, with ROI reaching as high as £6.30 for every £1 invested in proactive, universal interventions
  • A third of managers feel out of their depth supporting their team with mental health concerns (MHFA England My Whole Self Survey, 2023).
  • In 2022/23, work-related stress, depression or anxiety accounted for 49% of all work-related ill health and 54% of all working days lost due to work-related ill health (HSE, 2023)
  • 91% of adults experienced high or extreme levels of pressure or stress at some point in the past year with 1 in 5 needing to take time off due to poor mental health (Mental Health UK Burnout Report 2024).

The good news is that mental health training for line managers is strongly linked to better business performance, including improved staff recruitment and retention, better customer service, and lower levels of long-term mental health sickness absence (University of Nottingham research, 2024).

So it’s never been timelier to prioritise employee mental health, and give your leaders the confidence to start conversations with compassionate curiosity.

Client Testimonials

“Really informative sessions, I feel I have learnt a lot and now need to put it into practice to continuously improve. Julie was fantastic :)”

“Really enjoyed this course. Well led by Julie, she included all of the group and had a great approach to the sensitive and tough topics. I feel like I have learnt a lot and will use these techniques and skills within my HR role and also personally.”

“I can’t put into words how beneficial this course was to me which will in turn benefit the people I support in the future. Julie is a fantastic instructor and delivered really tough material in such a professional but personal way which is admirable. I felt safe and cared for by Julie throughout the course which is an incredible connection to feel with someone in a short space of time and in a virtual setting. Well done Julie and thank you so much!”

“Julie was a fab instructor, really supportive when issues were difficult and kept reminding us to step away if needed which was reassuring! Julie tackled any questions head-on, and you can really feel the passion she has for the subject!”

“I found this course extremely useful and glad to have attended. Julie is a fantastic trainer and the delivery of the live sessions was engaging and informative.”

“Really good course, really enjoyed this. Lots of useful information and very eye opening. Would highly recommend the course and instructor. 10/10.”

“I will be recommending this course to many others. It’s been a complete eye-opener for me personally. Being able to spot the early signs of mental ill health and by having the skills to use at the right time and effectively can save lives. It has also taught me to look after myself and my own mental health which is important to me and my family.”

“Julie was amazing at making the group feel comfortable and appreciated everyone’s contributions. I felt she is a very kind person and that’s an essential quality to have when leading tricky topics like she did.”

“The session opened my eyes to lots of difficult topics and emphasised the importance of listening with no judgement. Julie taught how to spot the early signs of mental ill-health and how you can be there for someone even when you don’t know what you can say and I think that is a critical thing to understand.”

“The training helped me understand a lot of sensitive subject matter and helped me to see the bigger picture when confronting it. But also most importantly to be able to recognise the warning signs early on and how sometimes more than anything the best help we can provide is to just listen and make the person feel included.”

“Fantastic course and great colleagues felt comfortable sharing their own very personal stories sometimes which was very brave but this certainly helped my understanding and learning.”

“I really enjoyed the course, it has really increased my skills and knowledge of mental health and gives me the passion to share this with others to help break the stigma!”

“It was a very interesting course and helpful in my role. I wasn’t sure how it would work to do it virtually rather than face-to-face but I do think it worked well. Breaking it up into 4 sessions was easier and better to manage than 2 full days.”

“Julie created a safe and open environment for us and it was clear the group felt comfortable throughout. Virtual environments can be challenging but Julie was very knowledgeable and used MS Teams to its full capabilities—the course ran smoothly and each session was well structured. No question felt silly and overall it was fantastic.”

“Julie was a fantastic facilitator and made this a great experience. The course was incredibly engaging with such a good group from diverse backgrounds and experiences. I really enjoyed this course and I’m glad I attended. Truly beneficial information delivered in a digestible way that was enjoyable. Thank you to Julie for being our instructor and letting the conversations flow so naturally.”

“A fantastic, insightful course that will significantly enhance my practice and ability to support mental health.”

“Very informative. I feel I have a lot more knowledge and understanding now and confidence to carry out the role.”

“A great practical tool to use both in and out of the workplace, delivered by an excellent instructor.”
